Old newbie

Hi All I'm new so it'll be great to get some feedback on things. I'm 64
Being welding since the 90s off and on in a non professional environment and into motorbike customization like the picture I'm doing now....really love welding and have self learnt putting right the bad welds over the years

So was welding a gate a few weeks ago and my mask that I got from a show many years ago was semi working on the auto darkening but did not realise it
(After checking the viewing area a small line above was burnt out ) so threw it away and bought a new SIP meteor 2185 .
Got welding eye next few days but not that bad considering it's a long job on the gate and using welder at high amps being bar at 16mm and bar at 6mm and soon went away
I've come to the end now guys

For some weeks I've had a severe headache and my left upper jaw has been in critical pain ...no sign of skin damage or burning in the area ? Had an xray on jaw with no sign of teeth problems at dentist and have had antibiotics at the docs

Has anybody had any similar experience like this as I'd like to think it's not radiation related .

Even in the light state a welding mask will (or should) protect you from UV light so there is no way you should get arc eye unless you didn't have the mask on. I suppose there could be cheap knockoff/Chinese helmets about that do not give this protection but...

Regarding the headache and sore jaw, have you had a covid test? I had a splitting headache for over a week when I had covid and I know of a few people that have had, what they are calling, covid foot/leg where the leg or foot is very painful, especially to touch but no real signs of damage.

Sorry to hear about health issues but great to see a bike on the living room carpet. You must be single, I still have the battle scars from when I tried it.

Sounds a bit like Zinc fever. Was any of the metal Galvanized / Zinc plated? If not maybe just inhaling lots of nasty fumes?
