One glove or two ?

I know I'm naughty, but mostly I only wear one glove and that is on my left hand to guide the torch as it is closer to the action than my right hand when mig welding. If I'm using a stick then I mostly wear both. It is winter time here now so I am wearing a jumper with long sleeves anyway. I am not a professional welder .............. just bits and pieces every now and again. My old gloves (or left glove) is starting to show the signs of age. Just having a quick look around and some companies even sell just the left glove separately.

Skin cancer risks are a worry in not covering up.

I have the same problem with grit blasting. I hold small workpieces in my left hand so my left glove gets shredded and the right lasts for ages.

You can turn thin gloves inside out to change their hand, and some gloves will eventually change if you wear them on the wrong hand for long enough.

You could always try a personal ad "Right handed MIG welder WLTM left handed same with a view to swapping gloves".

Put high factor sun block on that hand,or use a tig glove,or go to weldfabulous.com to buy single gloves

I keep a couple of old pairs of pliers aside in the cabinet to hold small work and save the gloves, would that help?

I have some as well I think they're called MoleGrips

i only use a glove on my left guide hand to hold the shroud...theres normaly that much sh$%e on my torch hand the UV rays would never get past it

first thoughts winter yeh right oh
then i googled it and was quite suprised i didnt think it got that cold in OZ you always think of it as being super hot

1. Weather: 2°C, Wind SW at 8 mph (13 km/h), 91% Humidity
2. Local time: Monday 04:55

as someone else said you should try and wear both gloves due to the uv light
im guilty myself just the other week i looked like i had bad dandruff on my hands arms and face, after patching up the exhaust on the van

Captain ............. the temps vary here from a max of 40 C on a hot summer's day to minus 7 C on a cold winter's morning. Only a couple of weeks ago we had about 3" of snow here in town which is very heavy for us and closed a few major roads for a day or two.

Even though this is a welding g forum we need to work out how to store some of the summer heat then you can send us some because ours is lousy
