opinions on this plate i welded in

a friend wanted me to weld in a plate on something, he supplied the plate - i just had to glue it on.

any comments - I'm still very new to it

it was about 2mm going onto 1mm - approx

cheers, i was a little worried doing something for someone else, screwing up your own work is one thing, i did weld my roll over spit together for my mk2 golf project and that hasn't fallen on the floor yet. Still nice to do a decent job for someone else too.

i didnt know how much so he gave me £20, which i thought was fair, they supplied the plates, and i had something else to practice on.

Did you weld in one go or a spot on each side first?

Looks like a nice weld.
I have a portamig 185 and hope my welds turn out like that.

a few spots to hold it in place, then hit each straight edge in one run.

cheers, I've done others since and they haven't looked quite as good, but the car rotisserie spit i welded up hasn't let the car fall on the floor yet so i guess the welds are strong

Looks great. I've just invested in a portamig 215, hoping 'one day' I'll achieve welds like that. Well done.

well this was about done after about 3 or 4 other tries at welding so all i can say is have a read here and youtube and you will be fine I'm sure
