Ordered Overcord E, Received Super 6!

Hi,
It's a seller on Ebay offering Overcord E rods in smallish quantities. I've bought from him before, and this time I ordered some 2.0 which I know I will use, and some 1.6 because I wanted to try them. The rods he supplied before were all marked "Overcord E E 6013". These are marked "AWS 6013" on the 2mm, nothing on the 1.6. They're both a different colour as well, a pure grey where the previous were slightly brown.
I dropped him a line to confirm he'd sent the right thing. Sure enough he hadn't, he said the Overcord aren't available any more (which may be correct) and that he'd supplied an alternative "an equivalent rod to the overcord E". The listing has been changed now to Super 6 at the same price.
Needless to say I've asked him to arrange return, and I need to find alternatives. I don't need anywhere near a 5kg pack of either size.

I probably got the same ones then, not sure if mine are marked. However they worked well so Im not complaining..

Top 2.0 confirmed by supplier as Super 6
Middle 2.0 Overcord E previously supplied
Bottom - suspect 1.6mm. Note not the same colour as the Overcord, but not the same as the Super 6 either. Not sure on that to be honest, I might suggest to him that I'll try one or two and keep them if I'm happy. Problem with that is being a rank beginner, if I don't get on I won't know if it's me or the rods as I don't have any other 1.6 to compare with. That was the whole reason for wanting a known brand, so I know it's not the rods.

I'd return the lot as the seller sounds like a chancer selling cheap rods as a premium brand, may have been doing so for a while & you're the first to catch on!

Regarding the 1.6's - as the rod size gets smaller they get harder to use because there is a higher proportion of flux to metal with 1.6 being the worst, poor welds & slag inclusions the usual result. A thin rod also burns away at a fast rate so you really have to move your hand to keep the arc length short.

I would suggest you learn with either 2.5 or 3.2 rods until you get the hang of welding, they're much easier to use for a beginner. Plenty of tutorials on here or youtube.

That's what I intend, case raised with Ebay.

Thanks. I've mostly been using 2.5 but have 3.2 as well. I've already been using 2.0 for a couple of repair jobs on thinner sections, I need to restock those. The 1.6 was really just for the hell of it to see how I get on with them.
