Outdoor socket recommendations

I need to fit an outdoor socket for an outdoor Lay Z hot tub, this will be run from the kitchen ring main so I don’t want one which will become unreliable and end up tripping the CU.
MK masterseal was the one I was thinking to get, has a 20 year warrant, just wondering what the sparks recommend?
Also should I get one with its own built in RCD, the house CU is already RCD protected.
Here‘s a picture of the power unit, it says 16 amps but has a 13 amp plug, heater and pump running together is 2650 watts, I’m presuming it says 16 amps to take into consideration of power surge when the pump starts.

Just looked at that picture, does this already have an rcd built in? It says 10mA on it.

I have seen those before, it will melt an outdoor socket over time especially the cheap BG and the likes!
If you do go the socket route use a single MK one just for the tub. It may well have a 10ma rcd built in, several I have been called out to have, and with the 30ma house one as well will be belt and braces!
I have replaced at least 3 twin BG sockets with single MK ones since lockdown, even one of them ended up with the plug welded into the new MK one some months later!
Best if you can to hard wire them through an isolator on their own circuit!

as above hard wire preferably on its own supply using a 20 amp double pole isolator switch and a 16 amp mcb at source . will run on a 13 amp plug but will burn out over a period as its pushing it

Yeh the outdoor sockets are IP66. but from what I’m seeing the isolator switches are 65, should be fine I’ll not be spraying water at it.

I installed Clipsal IP66 sockets about 20 years ago and they've stayed watertight. The main thing I'd suggest is regular unplugging and replugging to wipe the pins, this should help prevent the plug pins welding themselves to the socket. It took me a couple of times to realise what was happening. I was running a 3kW immersion heater heating oil in a biodiesel reactor for long periods, 6 to 7 hours at a time.

For reference the 13A plugs are actually meant to be rated for 20A continuous but that is their upper limit. Whether anybody these days actually honours that is a different matter.

IIRC double sockets are rated for 20A total combined, plugs are tested for a max of 13A. However quality of modern ones just don't seem to have the same longevity.

You can get "EV" rated sockets which are supposed to be more robust although I'd probably still hard wire it or use a commando unless there is a good reason not to.

In my case it’s no hassle wiring it from an isolator straight to the CU as I’ve easy access under the solum to anywhere under the house, it’ll be worth it even for the peace of mind.
I’ll need an outdoor socket anyway as the led lights which come with this run off a separate 13 amp plug into an ip66 transformer with a 12v output which I’ve just checked and it’s got a 3 amp fuse so I’ll just get a single socket for that and cut the kitchen main under the floor and run it into a junction box and take a spur from that as I’ve no kitchen sockets nearby in that corner, presumably that’s allowed under regulations. The cables for the sockets are all run underfloor anyway.

Got this fitted this afternoon, had a spare 16 amp CB fitted already which was handy, couldn’t find the switch @brightspark recommended locally so got one from Screwfix, thanks again for the advice.
