Overhead Mask

[Damaged]

Hi all,

I've been doing quite a bit of overhead mig recently on 8mm steel, even though I've tried my best to keep my head out of the way it's not doing my gear (or me ) any good.

I have Esab and Speedglas lids neither of which is rated for this kind of abuse, can anybody recomend any quality gear that is please?

Speedglas do accessories for there range I beleive..........maybe worth looking on the website.

Mick, for overhead I use an ordinary nod-down mask. The body is made from fibreglass and to date nothing has damaged it. Cheap enough from all the usual outlets.
I think most of the autos are not really man enough for overhead - certainly our ESAB Eyetechs are not.

I haven't used an auto helmet for some time, I find them more trouble than they're worth to be honest, and far too expensive to expose to something like long stints of overhead. I've long since gone back to standard helmets. Toolnweld sell the Stephens Itex screens, fibreglass, lightweight and about £14 a pop. They have a good headband and last well, they've been around for years.
