I recently had a customer ask me to make a sculpture based on their corporate logo of an owl, they are after a 3m tall version. They sent me the logo, a very simple line drawing similar in style to the White Horse of Uffington.
I liked it and made a small model out of gas welding rods, then made another with a bit more of a 3D effect. The one on the right is a copy of the logo.
I liked it even more after making the maquette.
Customer has gone to planning, so fingers crossed, and I gave her the model.
I thought these could be popular so I decided to make a larger model in 13mm bar for an exhibition, my plan is to make a group of three from quite small up to 2m.
I had a go at it this afternoon.
Hard work rolling all the curves, but it went together well, one of those nice sessions in the workshop when competence breaks out and everything works perfectly.
I think I may have found a new 'stock item'
Hopefully off to be galvanized next week.
