Oxford 270-1 single phase wire feed issue

Evening all.
After some help. As the title, oxford 270-1 roughly 5 years old, not had it long myself.
Has been welding perfect, then out of the blue.....wire feed has gone a miss.
Its getting resistance somewhere. Welds like I've got the wire speed waaay too low, but even on 10 it still ain't enough wire speed, and stops all together on 4 or less.
Makes all the right/normal noises when the trigger is pulled, feed rollers can be turned/moved by hand, so not jammed up.
Did this a week back and then went back to working fine for a week, but couldn't say what I did to fix it.

Any help/pointers/things to check etc would be very greatfull for.

Might also be worth checking out the control board carefully for dry solder joints - I had an intermittent wire feed issue with my 270 which turned out to be a dry solder joint on one of the components.
The machine had already been back to Technical Arc once for inspection/repair and they missed it. Only by chance I noticed it, reflowed it, been fine ever since.

I did think liner first. But it still does it when the tension feed wheel is released.

Will cast an eye over the control board. I assume dry solder joins are a duller colour than the norm solder joins?

i had something like this on an older oxford 180-1
1st checked for shorts
2nd checked for any moving bits
3rd replaced the potentiometer that solved it

Potentiometer on its last legs does make sense.
Will get the multimeter out and do a few checks.

Sometimes mine starts doing funny things like as soon as it turn it on the wire starts feeding without the torch trigger being touched. I spent ages changing torchs looking for bad connections ect ect eventually I gave up but decided to give it a blow out while the cover was off and hey presto it sorted it. Happens about once a year it's used 6 days a week so get alot of work and dust. It's usually metal dust on the back of the wire control board I would defo try giving it a clean before you do anything else they are fairly bullet proof welders in fairness not much goes wrong with them.
