Oxford MIGMAKER 200-1 MIG Welder

I’m looking at this MIG Welder as an upgrade to my Clarke 135TE. I can’t see what type of plug it takes. I have a 32amp breaker connected to 2x13amp sockets. Can this be wired with 13amp or 16amp slow blow fuse?
Also, quality. I’m a hobbyist but have been using my Clarke quite a lot recently since retiring, so I can imagine I’ll be doing more from car body panels to 5-6mm steel fabrication work. I’ve also looked at a Paton so it’s a choice. My budget stretches to £850.

The 200A Oxford will need at least a 16A plug to get full amperage, and that’s with a lenient curve on your breaker. It can be wired to a 13A plug if you so choose but you’ll peak at around 130-140 amps output before blowing your fuse.

If you're getting a sparky in to install a 16a socket you may as well get a couple fitted.
The actual socket outlets don't cost much and you can always fix them up first before the spark gets there.
Then if you get any other kit that needs 16a your ready.
Will be handy if you want to use a plasma and a welder at the same time without continually swapping plugs over.

If you go for the Oxford make sure you get a full package deal. We purchased one a year or so ago and were pretty upset when the supplier failed to supply a torch with it, this was supposedly standard practice with Oxford so beware when comparing prices to check exactly what comes with it. That was enough to sour the experience significantly, the Lincoln and Esab machines were a much more pleasant purchasing experience, they come with extra bits, not lacking essential bits....

That’s my set up at the moment…..someone recommended some ceeform sockets but I've seen they are quite pricey. I just thought the screwfix sockets would work but I might be wrong. I have a converter 13a plug to 16a socket.

I got the same.one at least 5 years ago with a torch and it came with a 0.8/1.0mm guide wheel on the wire feed so i got them to send me the 0.6/0.8mm wheel, on the plus side i have never had any issues.

I have the 270 version came with a torch from our forum sponsor ( think there may still be a discount) but the comment above is appropriate as some suppliers you need to order torch separately. I find the 4 mtr torch far more user friendly than my previous 3 m, which meant far more moving the machine.

I bought the Oxford 200-1 (from WSD some years ago), it's been a cracking machine - two points to note. The cooling fan is quite noisy (it's probably more of a resonance issue so may be worth investigating dampened mounting) and don't expect to be carrying this around the site - it's heavy and is really a wheel only machine! Other than that perfect for car restoration and general welding.

Place my lads works at had exactly the same thing happen, you think at the very least the sellers would point out that you need to order a torch as well

To be fair to Technical Arc who make the Oxford machines, it does say on there website that no torch is included and a torch is an extra.

Maybe they've generated so much negative feedback they've changed their stance recently?

Every time I use ours the cheap torch that was eventually supplied annoys me, it's the bit the user holds and Oxford should be taking steps to ensure quality for the whole package not washing their hands of the user interface.

I bought a Clarke 230TE in a sale years ago. Bought a quality torch and earth lead for it. Feels like a far more expensive machine.

Yes, much better that than a undersized Chinese mb15 torch on a 270A welder! Burnt tips galore. The earth clamp they supply is decent though.
