Is there anything wrong witht he bit of copper pipe as a joiner, Providing it's a push fit in the pipe and clipped securely? Still probarbly against all sort of rules
It's definitely dangerous to have copper in contact with acetylene. It can form a sensitive high explosive, and since acetylene is only just about stable it can set that off too.

if the hoses were that bad and needed joining just put them in the bin. ive got the same set on my bottles after 20 years . they perished on the end hanging of the regs . 3 inch was cut off them and there still in good nick . i have a new set but no point in changing them when nothing wrong with the old ones , dunno where u get your idea of bodging copper pipe in from ive had a propane pipe leak and flare up in a small shed to a burner a nice red face and no eyebrows and burnt hair before it was shut off . so check your hoses regularIs there anything wrong witht he bit of copper pipe as a joiner, Providing it's a push fit in the pipe and clipped securely?
