Oxy propane flame keeps going out !

Recently treated myself to a gas welding setup - Victor 400 torch, associated tips, regs etc and brazing rods.

But having big problems getting the flame stabilised, it keep getting blown out before i can get to a neutral flame.

The propane is set to about 5-6 psi, and i have tried the oxygen at both 5-6psi and 11-12 psi but i cant for the life of me keep the flame lit.

I am using a #2 victor brazing tip which i know are designed for acetylene but i intend to do brazing if i can get the flame to stay lit before getting to neutral flame !

Any help would be appreciated !

its a bit critical using oxy propane. lower the pressure on the oxygen and turn on verry slow or it will blow out. after a bit of practice regulating the oxy and propane it will be fine

With oxy propane i always light the propane then hold the end of the nozzle at an angle against a bit of metal while turning on the oxy.

This helps prevent the oxy blowing out the propane.

It seems really sensitive to going out, I am using a tip based for acetylene which is a flat end whereas looking at tips for propane, they have a recessed tip.

I have a spare tip so I may get a punch tool and indent the tip to make it recessed to see if that makes a difference.

Add to that, I have a bottom entry propane regulator which is bending the hose when fitting to the tank.

Any suggestions on where to get a right angle adaptor for the tank ?
