Paint reviews.

Probably applies to lots of items but as an example I wanted some paint seems like they only do the colour close to what we wanted in 2.5 litre cans (meaning an extra 6 quid) and Matt not silk .
Anyway upon reading the reviews (it was Goodhome paint allegedly made by crown for b and q I saw a review about the paint not sticking.

More checking and it showed up a lot more reviews saying ours went on fine. Good quality finish etc etc so I thought fine. Not a lot of choice so go for it.

Now whilst applying it I found it was fine until you wanted to do the next pad of paint. If you went back over the area very quickly it seemed to take well BUT if you moved to an adjacent area for a minute and then went to cut it back in with paint you had already applied it started to congeal and pull it off.

Anyone else had this problem and where can you get believeable trust worthy reviews

It probably depends what you're trying to paint... I assume it sticks to some surfaces or primers better than others.

I always buy Johnstones gloss where I can now, I've had some horrible experience with a couple of other brands, and now I've used enough of the stuff to know how it sprays etc.

It's an emulsion I am using. They did not have the colour in any other range.

As typed above , it depends on the surface . I've seen people use emulsion paint on walls that have had wallpaper on . Paint wont stick too well on a pasted surface. The wall has to be sealed, washed or lined first.

This had wall paper on but also had emulsion under that.

It transpires that if the paint has started to dry it coagulates.
The only way to get it perfect is to only do a small area so it's still wet.....but when it's a large high wall it's impossible to finish one area at the top working down as by the time you either move back up or down depending which direction you work it's started drying.

Only way I can do it is very fast and not worry about coverage. After it's dry it seems to paint fine over painting.
