Paint Spraying DVD's

Hi'

First congratulations on both a great forum and your excellent Painting Tutorials, been 'lurking' around here for a while.

I recently brought a compressor and half decent gun ect, secondhand from a gent in the same car club as i belong to. He used it to spray his TR4 at home and made a great job IMHO.

I would like to eventually like to do the same to my TR7, fed up messing about with rattle cans !! I was hoping to do some form of course ie. night course but does not seem to be any around here ( Luton, Beds ) noticed on Fleabay there are several DVD on there. Anyone ever watched these or are they worthless.

I'd have a look on YouTube before spending any money.

yep id go for the free youtube /internet ones

then spend your money on some paint and a scrap panel and have a play , practice makes perfect

I bought one for small money on eBay, I got 4 DVD's and though they were pretty old, most of the techniques were still relevant.

Keep me upto date with the TR7, I have a 1978 inca yellow with 48,000 miles on the clock, Brought it about 28 years ago and ran it for a couple of years before it succomed to head gasket failure and rotten front wings. Took it off the road for a couple of years and slowly got all the jobs done. However due to writing off a little MG Metro i had at the time I quickly had to throw the TR7 together so that i had transport. Used it for a couple of months whilst i got the Metro back on the road and then simply drove the TR7 back into the garage at my mums and locked the door. That was some 19 years ago and i havent ventured back into see it since (personal issues). My intention is to move it to where i currently live and tottter around in the garage doing jobs on it. BY THE WAY, i worked in the parts dept of a Austin Morris dealership as it was then eventually evolving into a Rover main Dealership AND at the time Austin, Morris, Triumph, Rover and Jaguar, Land Rover fell under the British Leyland umbrella and as a consequnce i had access to parts for all of these franchises form the factory and when Triumph got dropped they sold off all the parts at peanuts prices and i just went through the parts catalogue every week for TR7 and brougt a whole heap of genuine parts (doors, skins, wheels, brake pipes, interior fittings bonnets etc etc) and even when the dealership i worked at off loaded there stock of TR7 obsolete parts (stock was written down every year if non had sold and after about 4 years the stock was of no 'book' value and could be sold off for whatever they were offered)so i brought a stack of stock then as well. Hi,

Thank you for the feedback, i am a tech at a BMW franchise, we have a bodyshop, not on site. Will get hold of some old pannels of then, well the straight bits !!! and have a play.

Literaly need a heads up where to start, and a picture can speak a thousand words, but practice is the only way for sure, once again thank you for your advice
