Painting the inside surface of a rear quarter.

Gents,

I have a full rear quarterpanel painted in grey transit primer, no doubt cheap stuff. I've got to cut out the spotwelds on the old panel on the car then fit the new one. Can anyone advise on the best way of painting the inside surface of the panel? I am assuming that as I'll be welding around the edges I'll have to leave that in bare metal or flick a bit of weld-through primer on the inside surfaces of edge flanges. Also, after fitting I'm going to have to get the the inside and prep and paint the welded areas. Any information gratefully received.

if its a panel thats on show , id prep it same as the outside of the car and paint it nicley but mask off the welded areas

then do a small blow in on any areas that show once its finished

I would:-
1) Remove the transit primer.
2) Smooth any sharp edges and debur any holes
3) Tape the flanges that will be spot/plug welded to mask them.
4) Spray the panel with epoxy primer inside and out.
5) Remove the masking tape and apply weld through to the mating face of the flanges
6) Once welded in, clean up, apply seam sealer and further epoxy primer over the seam sealer and affected areas.

Only thing different I would do is stage 6 after the clean up I would apply epoxy primer to the burnt bare metal and then seam seal and epoxy.
