Parweld 914 banding when autodims?

My Parweld 914 is 3-4 yrs old, not used it in 6mths & now getting back into welding the resto project.

Anyway, checked my gear a couple of nights ago & when I tried the helmet on a fluorescent light it dimmed but there was a darker band in the middle. Adjusting the sensitivity moved the band outwards to the edges.

Is my helmet on the way out or could it be an effect of the cold as it lives in the freezing garage?

They do hate the cold, so could be that.
Maybe it needs an hour in the sun?

Always put mine on a sunny windowsill for a couple of hours after storing for a few weeks or more; think they may need to charge up in bright light for an hour or so.
