PCL connector issues...

I had to replace my main tool air-line as the last one split (that makes you jump ) Went to use my little sander yesterday and it span up ok but immediately slowed almost to a stop.

The new hose is bigger than the old but i could hear the air filling the hose again after i let go the trigger on the sander so it seems the quick-connect at the wall end of my new air line is crap.

My stuff uses the short Euro style fitting but over the years I have now got a few versions and as usual they don't seem fully compatible - the new line will lock in but little air flows.

So my solution is to bin the lot and get a load of matching connectors - replace every fitting with one style.

Can anyone show a link or recommend a decent quality of quick-connect suitable for 10mm air line flow rates please? Its going to cost a bit so i want to get the right stuff this time

I've had it where the male part was worn so it wasn't opening up the the valve fully.

PCL XF seems to be the way to go these days, can be bought cheaply from Screwfix.
If you are going the whole hog have a look at Prevost couplings, I had a demo of one recently, push button release and they vent the air to the tool/line doesn't fly out. They are not cheap they but worthwhile on an air line that you use often.

Thanks, PCL XF looks a bit like some of my EURO junk, maybe thats one of the issues.

The flow rate is way better than regular PCL though so that seems good and as usual screwfix prices are very good.

They got a decent 10mm rubber hose too with prices equal or better that eBay, that takes some doing.

I'm not worried what style fitting - the important bit is that it is a named or branded style, most of the cheap stuff is just labelled "PCL style" or just "Quick connect" which is how io got into this mismatch problem i think

I'll get an order together I think.

I have tended to use the rectus 25 series (euro) couplings when replacing the older standard plc couplings. More expensive but I've had no leaks or accidental disconnects so far

I've just changed to Screwfix PCL XF fittings & yes they are genuine as they say, also a very good price too, considerably cheaper than MM

I tried a very technical experiment with the standard PCL against the XF coupling to test the flow.

I pushed a male fitting into the coupling to imitate how they would be used of each type .............. & blew through each of them. Yes the XF fittings had a lot less resistance to blow flow!

There you are, I told you it was a very technical test, but it seemed to prove the point.

problem is you still have a range of sizes to fit the hose......I assume at some stage the hose will be smaller than the plug.

Screwfix parcel came nice and early - connectors brilliant, 10m hose looked good until one off the fittings just fell off in my hand!

Could have been nasty if connected to air.

Erbauer hose - i would NOT recommend it at all.

Being collected tomorrow for credit - i'll shop elsewhere for hose i think.

I had similar with a Laser airline hose, ordered click & collect from MM as it wasn't a stock item. Got it home & it leaked like a pig, the crimped ends were loose. On it, it said any problems with this item, ring 0800....... So I did. The man on the help desk got quite shirty with me, why are you ringing us, take it back sort of stuff. My answer was that I rang the number as requested on the packet, as per their instructions & it could be considered a safety problem. I got nowhere & decided to avoid Laser tools in future if possible. I know I could have sorted it with a couple of Jubilee clips, but that wasn't the point. I returned it & bought someone else's.

Just got back from the local CarSpares shop, 10mins walk from day job they had a nice flexible 10m hose by Sealy so i picked that up, nice day glow orange too which i thought was quite fetching

Now i'm looking for a nice soft recoil airline I have one at work and it's 8mm x 5mm and very soft - some are so hard they pull the tool from your grip, trouble is i cant find another one now, they all seem to be 10mm x 8mm and no idea how hard or soft they are. Anyone recommend a nice soft recoil hose?????
