Peeling laquer

My car was left unwashed for a long time with bird poops and has rotted away the laquer in several places. Metalic red underneath.

To do a proper repair will I need to get a tin of basecoat mixed up, or is it adequate just to prepare the area and spray fresh laquer? I have some upol 2085 smart, or some 2k clear.

I dont care for it to look perfect but would be nice if it were less noticable.

The issue you will have is ghosting between the the clear and the base. Therefore you will need to either remove all the clear and key the substrate or locally feather the edges and prime. Both will need new basecoat though.

That looks like the bonnet has already been resprayed, probably a poor job which is why you're seeing problems. If that's the case then patching will only rectify current damage....I can't see the rest lasting too long. Long term fix would be to rub down to base and repaint.

Nah quite sure its original. It is the same shade when the light hits it the same. 100% from seagul poop.

Yes does sound like it needs to be rubbed back, base and clear. Not sure I want to be without a bonnet for a week so may have to buy a spare.
