Peeling paint on a portacabin.

Ive just aquired a steel faced portacabin as a project.
First job is to repaint the exterior.
It looks as tho its been overpainted in the past, and not done well, so its now peeling.
The galvanised sheet is sound, however.

Im intending to use jotun conseal touchup, but obviously i need to remove the peeling paint.

Whats the best way?
Scraper? Wirebrush in a 9" angle grinder?
I dont possess a pressure washer, although im sure that would be good.

i was tasked with removing peeling paint from an ageing CNC lathe when i was an apprentice...scraper seemed to do a good job but the paint had been covered in suds and cutting oil for years so it was really soft...maybe a spray with paint stripper and a wire brush in a grinder?

A pressure washer as mentioned would do a great job, failing that try Siastrip discs or similar. You will need a variable speed grinder though as they are best used well below the 8,000 rpm max.

depends what it's for, if it's a workshop or suchlike, then I'd be knocking a scraper over the loose bits and a quick once over with the paint, or if it's to be "presentable", then rotary wire brush on a decent grinder and a lot of elbow grease..

being a lazy tart, I know which option I'd be looking at

It has to be very presentable.

might be a better option in the long run, not cheap though, what about pvc cladding boards / panels?

I inherited two Portakabins when we bought this place, and their visible sides have been shiplap clad to make them 'blend in'. Trouble is someone did it with a nail gun, so the outside is perforated and in places the nails have come through.

only problem with that is fixing to the steel could start corrosion id try a nice sharp scraper, wire brush on a grinder then a good sand down before next coat of paint

you can get pressure washers for next to nothing , or im sure a mate or family member might have one

anything that stays on after a good blast should be sound enough

Pressure washer would be favourite, if you are planning to repaint for protection only it will only need keying after

It's a good job it's green paint because then you won't notice it too much all over the lawn.

I have no idea of the company or product above its just the type of finish i have seen on refurbished cabins. (1st link i found on google)
Providing you remove all the flaky bits and feather any edges this will cover it fine.
