Petrol compressor?

this is to a previous thread I posted few days ago about a 50 litre compressor for doing alloys. hearing people tell me it can be done and others say it will struggle but someone pointed out to me that to do mobile alloy refurbs they use something similar to this petrol compresssor that I will add but there’s is a 14cfm 50ltr and sanders and other painting tools run happily on them . My question is if I’m just doing alloy refurbs say patch work on scuffed alloys & sometimes colour changes (small jobs) will this compressor do it thanks ?

it'll be pritty ,uch like a 3hp belt drive electric to give you an idea

for mobile work, id say you've got 2 real viable choices. 1) if you like need lots of compressed air buy an ex utillites van at auction that has an on board engine driven compressor, usally push button / or push button pull lever and you have between 60 and 130 CFM on tap quite a few will also give you 5+ KW of 110v to run tools. this way you can use all the air you'll ever want

2) buy an inverter use it to ether run corded power tools or charge battery tools and just absoluty minamise your need for compressed air, air tools are relativly cheep but compressed air is very expensive and very inefiicent you'll get 10% if your lucky

Most air tools quote what they call average air consumption, they rate them at 25%, so that would be 14 cfm if on constant use. I've been caught like this, seen 4cfm on the box, when you look at the full spec, you find its 16cfm actual.
