I might need to cut some steel plate up for a project and was thinking about a plasma cutter, can anyone post a few pics of how well they cut?
Any tips on buying etc will be appreciated.
Cheers
Have you scouted utube?
Checked out Google images?
No matter what cutter you get most of it is down to the user, dont forget you'll need a compressor to
I couldn't find any thinner cuts I've made in the past but I took a few of thicker stuff with my R-Tech P50HF
10mm Cast Iron - I had no idea it was cast until I started cutting - flew through it anyway. Traced around a plywood template. Not really typical for the amount of dross for this thickness even on rusty metal but it comes away very easily with a tap:
Freehand on 10mm Bright Mild Steel (sitting on 6mm MS):
The bump halfway along is caused by me tilting the torch by accident - I tend to struggle a bit with keeping the torch perpendicular to the work freehand so mostly use ply straight edges and templates.
6mm Mild Steel:
Shows how neat a cut you can make with a straight edge - a more experienced person would likely achieve something even better.
