Hi
My name is Paul & I'm picking up my first mig, it's a rusty (only on the outside I hope!) Portamig Motamig 160x. I bought it on ebay yesterday for £150.
Have been looking for a few months now for a mig and have been reading a lot of the posts on this excellent forum trying to figure out which way to jump. New or second hand. Budget was only around £200 so it mean't a new Clarke or a quality used mig.
I have not welded in 35 odd years since school and then it was arc and oxy/acetelyne. I was pretty good at it then, if I remember correctly as the teacher got me to do all the repairs around the school he was mean't to do. Only got a C for the class though as at the end of the year he told me I had not done any of the test pieces required for the course! He was a bit nuts..... And I was a bit hacked off.
Anyway am looking forward to sticking some metal together with the mig and contributing to this forum.
All the best
Paul
