Pillar drill bit lubrication

Someone asked about drilling lubrication recently, I don't think I've posted this before. I made it about 10 years ago before I had any machine tools, but it's still going strong.

It's very efficient on oil, with no mess or waste.

it's got to be messier than drilling dry and for general jobbing work I see little need for it?

I tend to bring the bit down to make a spot on the surface, pull it back a bit and put a drop of cutting fluid on then crack on, adding more fluid if I need to when pulling back to break the chips. Looks like a very neat job that.

It made the difference between being able to use an 18mm blacksmith's drill, and not. I use it on anything other than the odd hole now as it makes bits last longer, and gives a good finish. Any chatter with the bigger bits is really reduced with the oil. What you can hear in the video is the free end rattling against the other pillar drill's bed.

That's the good thing about it, it just runs down the flutes.

That's what i use for most jobs, drilling, tapping,band saw, and with a brush to odd bits on the small lathe.
Have tried most and keep going back to CT90.

Recommended by my locksmith ex machinist mate years back. Always served me well too.

This looks useful, at the moment I give a quick squirt of the WD40 cutting fluid which is a nice sticky foaming oil.
I can see the gravity feed from the bottle but what is the join and how does the application end look please,

The pipe is 6mm push-fit, commonly used for pneumatics. There's a push-fit ball valve and then a bit of pipe heated in boiling water and pushed over the steel pipe.

The end of the pipe is spilt so that it rests on the drill bit, and oil flows from the split on to the bit.
