Pillar drill head stuck

Nice Denford drill I want to get up and running. Works beautifully BUT
SImplest jobs turn into a nightmare!
I assume the head just lifts off the same as the cheap Chinese imports? Drill looks the same but imperial fasteners.
Removed grub screw.
Tried lifting with forklift. Bolted to a pallet with a flypress and extra weight down below.
Just lifts pallet off the ground.
Noticed head not at 90 degrees. Won't swivel. Tried hitting it with a lump hammer and a block of wood. Still won't swivel never mind lift off.
Any ideas?

Breath breath, calm, not another under the first one is there, one you can see just a locker
Had that on a drill cant remember the make

Look for another grub screw, just in case you have missed the obvious.
Next, rather than trying to lift, try to wiggle instead. You'll find it much easier to break the seized joint.

I was hitting the head near the chuck trying to twist it.

Can't see any more screws. No room.
Lifted the belt cover. Can't see anything there unless under the belt cover.

Nothing under the lecky box ?
Even the old Alpine I have has 2 vertically, about 50mm apart and that was a cheap Graham engineering unit

When I bought my 3 phase SIP pillar drill recently the head on it was stuck. Would not lift off.

We locked the table and positioned a small bottle jack on the table close to the pole and a block of wood under the drill body.

That was the only thing that shifted it. I wiggled the head side to side a little and the other guy jacked it up at the same time and we walked it up off the pole.

Drill is almost identical to the Chinese units. I wonder who copied whom

This might be the drawing for your drill. If I read the dwg right, you've removed the 4BA, but there is another through tapped hole (3/8 BSW) on diametrically opposite and up a bit! That's presumably hiding under the lx box as 500e wondered?

Another thing to check is double grub screws. Sometimes there are two on top of each other, I had it recently with a pulley. So you think you've removed it but it was just the lock grub screw.

The 3/8" BSW hole is to lock the motor bracket, isn't it? The motor is probably mounted on a plate with two bars that slide in and out of the drill head.

I assume you have removed the fasteners circled in red. They clamp the head to the column.
