Pillow block bearings help pls

I've never used pillow block bearings before so pls excuse a dumb Q...

I've got a pair of these bearings and a shaft to fit, ok it should be nice and snug fit but I was wondering what I should possibly use to stop the shaft from working its way out.. Can I just cap them off with a little grease applied?

There should be two grub screws in the inner race to lock onto the shaft.

Oh ok they have not arrived yet so have not been able to look.. I was planning ahead so to speak.

Not all of them have that, quite a few are plain. A collar works if you don't have items both sides of the bearing.

I will be running the shaft between the two bearings like a kids swing so to speak, a pivot point.. What sort of collars do I need to search for pls..

Spent my whole life design around those type of bearings, the standard type is fitted with two allen grub screws. If you intend to use on a plain shaft then remove allen screw and dimple shaft with drill point, and then
refit allen screw one at a time with Loctite.
The expensive way is to have turned shoulders on shaft to stop it sliding out thro bearings. You can get those type of bearings with eccentric locking collars but more expensive and more difficult to get.

So I put a dimple with a centre ouch or end drill yes, and the Allen screw holds it via the dimple with loctite on the thread of the Allen screw..?

NSK datasheet and product info here

Its quite a lengthy brochure detailing all the different types but there's a bit about mounting near the beginning (Page 7) and it also gives tightening torque for various types (NSK of course but if you select the rough size of the one you have they should be in the right ball park). Or you could just tighten as you see fit, can't say I've ever done anything that critical I've needed to torque them up, usually just until the thread strips and then back a turn for me...
