Overfueling overheated and crap engine oil. lack of oil changes.
Other than that its looking good!!!

I'd go for the veg oil scenario it's caramelized because the oil was mucky and not preheated to give optimal combustion .
If it were a normal oil prob it would be black and grotty .

is it because it never had a "carbonflow" or "broquet" fuel catalyst/homeopathic/majick tin beads fitted in the fuel tank? proof at last!

No, Sean it neede a magnet attached to the fuel supply.

Its a renault, 1.9dci.

Been burning through oil like nobodys business.
Highly pressureised crank case, breathing terribly, and spits an oil mist out of the dipstick.

So like that because oil has been drawn up past the rings and burnt....?

sure it's not the turbo seals as well that 1.9dci is renowned for turbos failing
and the pcv system blocking they will give all the same symptoms
those pistons don't seem to have much blow by the skirts are too clean

Turbo is clean as a whistle, its a new one.

what were the bores like?
and vavle oil seals?
have had a bit of trouble with dci before
