Nice little sheet metal number for one of our customers.
Wanted some toolboxes knocked up to replace some rotted out ones.
From 3mm sheet for strength, as they will have chains and such in them. All hot dip galved so they will last. The larger ones have dividers and a shelf.

Looking to make a much smaller one of these myself. How do you do the narrow folds around the perimeter of the opening and on the door? A press brake?

Yes, pressbrake. Makes easy work of jobs like that.

Tidy. Usual heap of galv dross inside the rectangular one? Look like they have kept their shape fairly well...top of the rectangular one pulled in a bit though?

Quite a wide door, so didn't want any drop making the bottom bind up on the bottom of the box.

He supplied them himself, they arn't lockable ones, but they do lockable ones in the same style. I guess they came from TTC/Albert Jaeger/Parsons or somewhere similar...

What is it you say up there then? Rotted t'out?
Galv, most of it brushes off, no big deal for this job, throwing chains in there every day will soon sort that out!
I was surprised how good they stayed to be honest, especially the doors. They bolt up through the tops, with the folded channels inside to spread the load a bit, so will pull it flat.

The rectangular one is 5 including the door. Back and bottom in one, top and two ends separate. Because its quite a bit deeper than it it high, can't do it on our presses.
Same with the tapered ones, although thats more for ease of cutting out of the sheets.
4 sheets went into them, 3mx1.5m sheets.

Those boxes are really nice .
I addapted an ammo box recently for same job, not galvanized however

I spot welded the handles down, then got irritated with the two point of hinge on the door so welded one solid and with the straps it made it much nicer when open the lock cost £8 delivered I think the rest was free saved about 80 minus some time doing it.
