Plasma cutter rip guide - anyone bought from here?

Hi all

Has anyone got one of the rip guides from plasma helper?

Just wondered if anybody be had a review of them or similar? Anyone aware of a UK source?
Realise they are expensive for what they are (58 quid with shipping from usa) but I don't have any machining gear nor any stock metal to suit.

Never bought from them so can't help but I've been thinking about something like this for a wile, but I've been thinking about somehow mounting my torch on my quick'y burner, but it probably wont be fast enough for thin stuff

I am trying to cut box section lengthways, with my bodged method I can't move fast enough accurately and end up with 2 banana shaped halves!

Do you mean you are cutting them banana shaped or they are bending?

From my experience cutting box they will bend and there will be very little you can do about it due to the stresses present in the box section from the manufacture process.

I think thats the stress within the box relieving when you cut it. I had the same sort of thing when i was trying to cut some heavy wall s/s box to make a swingarm. No matter what i done it distorted.

They are bending a lot ! Mmm maybe not doable then thanks for info.

Cheers will have a rethink on the box section then, sure I saw a post on here about plasma cutting box section down the middle with no mention of distortion (can't find it now!), so I thought it was the cut speed doing it.

Can't you buy channel the right size to suit you ?

In emergency cases, someone with a press could bend a sheet metal to the size you need.
But, only in emergency cases!

If your making a long cut down box section or plate or whatever, leave the first 10mm or so uncut. If its a long cut, miss a few 10mm sections, then cut them last, at the end. It will stop it going quite as banana shaped, and keep it all together whilst you cut.

Watch for the twang when you cut the last bits through.

No bit of a custom project and only need about 600mm anyway

Very helpful fella has an eBay store too, manufactures stuff for different industries too by looks of it user is harlowindustries
I am thinking on it at the mo, might try and make my own as can get cut bar cheap.
The clamps have me stuck, trying to find a quick release off the shelf item

or a bit of bar turned up on a lathe then knurled for fingergrip

Cheers found some thumb screws for those parts, it's a way of clamping the torch that is the problem, needs to be quick release but secure

i thought about making a guide for my plasma's


holding the torch was the tricky part

i was going to turn down some round stock, and bore it to take the torch shroud

could then make a thumb screw in the side to lock the torch in place.


trouble is that means time in the workshop on the lathe.
