So I started out using this, but it blew the fumes back up into my face. Nasty stuff, nose very dirty after, unpleasant.
Because it blew back up that I deducted that the compressed air coming out the torch will blow the fumes away from you if given the right channel to flow along.
So here is the progress so far. I havnt the grill added yet. I used it last night for the first time and it does indeed work, fumes are reduced, so mission accomplished.
The end bit of the table is for my mitre saw and also my cut off saw.
The box I'm making is for power, gonna sort out the leads on the floor once and for all.
As it turns out the fan is not needed, the force of the compressed air is enough to carry away the fumes.
There is a baffle. I dont have a pic of it. damn. The fumes flow down along the curve and then get trapped away from me by the baffle. Simples.
It aint perfect. but it aint bad either. More bits to add onto it.
Need a lekkie box so I started making one. Cut these circles freehand last night, the first one is crap but by the fourth one, on the right of the pic, I was getting more comfortable. I am using shade 1.7 glasses, not great for thin metal, gonna get the next shade up and try those. Shade 1.7s are fine for heavy plate where the arc is hidden, however on thin stuff the arc is very visible.
I scored the 3mm sheet with a grinder and tried to bend it, but that didnt work. Then I had a brainwave, I'm going to score it with the plasma cutter, like a cardboard cut-out. Will do that tonight. Interested to see how it works.
