DNA, fascinating stuff, a simple and complex structure.
For years I have been thinking about how to make a sculpture of the double helix form, and been thinking far too deeply, complex joints, impossible fabrication, too many angles.
Then I saw a film the other night. The Skin We Live In by Pedro Almodovar.
A great Spanish horror flick about insane plastic surgeons.
Anyway, the credits had an animation of a DNA molecule.
I heard mrs C laugh as I sunk back into me seat twiddling my beard.
The iformation had sunk in I was off on a mission.
My planwas to make a short section using my new idea to check it worked. I used pennies as I have a stash at work. I got stated and got carried away.
Luckily the lady from my last class had sent me a load of retort stands from a lab she is clearing out.
This is still supported in the stands, ok i got a bit caried away

Finished for now. Spins beautifully in the wind, may put a clip on Utube later. it even rolls along the floor lie a mad thing.
86 base pairs, about 1.4m long, 8 welds in each base pair and loads of tiny micro burns to me hands.
A nice day in the office.
next thing is how to display it. A few options floating about.
for now it lives on the stand where it wont get bashed in.
I have a terrible feelign that this may be a scale model of something much bigger.
I also realised that I was getting quite motivated by deeper meanings in this one, ie that the corporate whores have patented sections of human DNA, our genes becoming money became a part of the process.
