Please help lost item

Hi all

some how I have managed to miss lay ( or lost ) a bracket from the quick close on my Pultra 17/70, has anyone got a 17/50 or 17/70 with quick close that could give me the dimensions of the part that the quick close handle fixes on then fixes onto back of headstock with two pins, I have the pins , I could probably work out overall size but the gap in between the two pin holes would be a problem, the item is a square U shape with two holes on either side.

I've no idea which model my Pultra is but the two pins are on 15mm centres if that helps.

They are specifically made for a particular model lathe, an expensive accessory to buy, and would be rather complicated to make. There is a very close fitting shaft which goes through the headstock spindle to draw in the collet, which is adjusted by a small wheel so that just the right amount of tension can be set for the lever to use as a cam lock. The lever snaps just past the point of being perpendicular to the shaft to lock the part in the collet. The lever is attached to the head stock, and the shaft section rides in a bearing so that it spins freely.

This type of collet closer is a time saving device usually found on production machines where repetitive parts need to be machined quickly. Not really necessary for doing one of, or just a few similar parts.

But I can't find them in ER32.
I am pretty sure 5C does not go up to 20mm but I might be wrong.

Yeah it's not for a lathe. Just a way of quickly holding 200mm all thread 75mm long while I debur the end with a cutter in a drill

I think this



might be quick. But I need to see how much movement a cheaper collet block need to clamp it first.

Thanks for all the replies and pictures just what I needed, as my Pultra 17/70 came in bits I have 2 pins that I can’t for the life of me fathom where they go ( see picture ), size is 13mm long and 3mm diameter, if anyone can help it would much appreciated Merry Xmas Dell

Found the part that I thought I had lost, it was still hanging on the painting trestle at work ( I blame it on my age ) forgetful old man that I am.
its a bit different to yours JMS 1972 your one looks like two plates with nuts and bolts my one is the bracket in picture with two long pins.
The next job I want to get done over Xmas is to fit the Multifix QCTP that just arrived from Germany PeWe tools if anyone interested.

Well I found out yesterday I don't have the strength of grip I used to have.
I used to be able to lift not only a 9 gallon keg full of beer but also an 11 gallon one.

I went karting yesterday and by god it was 10 times harder indoors than outside due to lack of power steering.

But grip is weak now..
