Hello all,
Making progress with the 130 Pocket Turbo, albeit a bit slow. Have been trying different welds out but plug welds are proving a bit of a challenge. I have the welder set to 1 max, wire speed 5-6 (12 o'clock to 1 o'clock) using 0.6 wire on 1.2mm steel with 6mm drilled holes. Using Argon/CO2. Stick out about 1 cm and gun just off vertical so I can try to see what is going on. (Welding tip sits about 5mm below edge of shroud, is that correct?) The technique I am using is to start in the middle for a count of 2 and then move out to the edge for another count of 2. I am trying to plug vertically as I'll be working vertically when doing the car at this stage. I seem to end up with gaps around the edge or burning the edge away of the top sheet. I have tried using 1 min which didn't seem to make a huge amount of difference, but it could just be my inexperience. Am I spending too long on the weld? Speed wrong? Holes too small? Appreciate any thoughts on what I should change to improve matters.
Thanks
Kevin
