Plumbing question

In the next week I shall be plumbing in a new bathroom sink and will be fitting angled service valves in between copper pipework and tap flexi pipes.The service valves are normal 15mm ball type valves but have a direction of flow on them, is there any reason why I couldn't have the water flowing in the opposite direction? I know you shouldnt on radiator thermostats (causes knocking) but can't see why not on a simple on/off valve that will be mostly in the on position.The reason I want to reverse them is that fitted correctly the screwdriver slots point towards the pedestal, where if backwards the slots point down and are easy to get to.

no chec valve in those ones, I see the arrow not sure if it would make a differece or not if u installed the the other way around,

Solder a 90 on and stub for the compression fitting and use a straight iso valve or you can get flexi’s with an isolating valve.

if its a one way valve its important with the arrows

if its just a basic ball valve you will be fine to use it in reverse but the prefered way is to use it following the arrow as you know where the flow is going

I hate plumbing, I don't get leaks I get weeps, bad enough with compression fittings it would be even worse if I soldered the joints. So glad I discovered the joy of push fit connections this year, I wish I found them years ago.Problem is the taps have the flexis already built in and are a smaller 3/8th fitting so I already need adaptors. Decent taps though, grohl.

Depending on the contruction internally, the reverse direction might tend to push the ball against the blanked end, which might fail eventually.

I would say that it’s something to do with the design of the seal arrangement; when in the closed position and there is maximum delta P across the valve. Under normal flow conditions, which way round it’s fitted wouldn’t matter of course.

This would only be if it was in the closed position for a long time though if I'm correct.

If you're only cutting off tank-fed pressure, probably not a problem. Mains-fed, I'd think twice about it.

Been caught out with the Grohl tap sizes before. Screwfix do the adapters thankfully.
