Pneumatic nail removal gun

Does anyone here happen to have an air-powered de-nailing tool similar to this one? It's a bit like a captive bolt pistol or stun gun, but I will be using it for its intended purpose! I recycle a lot of pallets and would like a tool to speed up the de-nailing process. I've seen similar tools in action on YouTube and they seem to do a useful job, either hitting the nail straight through or part way through. The descriptions don't always mention the maximum nail diameter (limited by the guide tube size) and I don't know how well it would handle stubborn ring-shank nails.

Your opinions would be welcome.

Thanks for that. I've now watched the video and see it's similar to another idea I had, making use of an existing air chisel. It wouldn't be too difficult to modify a chisel to drive the nails. My main objection to the air chisel (and needle scaler which I also use) is the noise. I don't mind it, but the neighbours probably do.

Am i missing the point here?...removing nails from timber is so much easier with one light tool in your hand, a good claw hammer with a decent fulcrum on the claw.

And if you have spindly nails that bend by looking at them wrong, you could try this:-

The sliding guide sleeve keeps the nails on the true path to extraction. They are known as 'guide sleeve bit holders' or 'retracting bit holders'. Can also be used manually with a standard hammer.

yep the couple i have have had the leather handles rubbed up and coated with danish oil the steel is shiney with constant use even though they get wet

Even they struggle with the heat sensitive annular ring nails as the glue melts due to the speed friction generated as the nails are inserted. & your hands get tiered fairly quickly either from using the hand slider/ piston or a hammer on the more robust ones.

I know a man who might be able to find out how a fairly big commercial pallet refurbishing company next door to his unit sort out their pallets. for all the nails in the thicker timbers look as though they have been hack sawed through level with the thicker timber s

I worked for chep in another life. Air spreader between the rails and a cengar saw in the gap to trim nails.
Not much use if you want to recycle the wood as something over than firewood.

I used to have one of those and was not impressed when denailing pallets. It might be okay for a handful of nails in some trim, but not when you have several hundred nails to remove. It wasn't much quicker than a claw hammer and wrecking bar.
