Pocket Turbo wire feed motor voltage

Hi, My first time here and I have a problem. Whoops, that's for my AA meetings! My 30-odd year old Cebora has a problem. The clapper arm tension screw has snapped and I can't find a replacement anywhere. So I've had a search on here and it looks like I'll have to replace the assembly.

So I've run the wire feed motor on its highest setting and I measured 37v across the motor terminals. But I can only find 12 or 24v units. Have I measured it correctly and Ceboras have higher voltage motors or, as I'm an electrical dunce, am I being too simplistic and got it all wrong?

Whats special about the screw that something cant be made/adapted/fabercobbeled or bodged?

Hi Grim, I'm working on that at the same time but clapper arm is also cracked and will a repair too. If one of those Chinese feed motors will fit, work ok and cost only £17 then it maybe a better solution.

As the motor is not under much load (only driving the gearbox!) not pulling wire then the (poorly regulated) power supply would creep up. So I would say it's a 24v motor.
Now you can see why most of the smaller welders benefit from a separate well regulated power supply for the motor (look in the SIP section for examples)

That motor looks like it's come off a toy that's fell out of a cracker. I know it is cheap but do you really expect decent wire feed from that? What does the old motor look like?

Look on Alibaba (name check) better looking ones on there for similar money
