Portable Blacksmiths Forge

This is my homemade blacksmiths forge, it is compact enough to live on a shelf and is great for forging small to medium items like knifes The inbuilt 12v rechargeable battery easily holds enough charge to get through one bag of charcoal



I did originally made it out of wood with a metal tray



but the tray failed

Good build chunkywelder, a small forge is on my list we have a small gas setup for hardening and tempering but would be handy for odd bits of forge work.
Ps. Did anyone else who watched the video close there eyes the 1st time the mig arced up, false of habit.

Charcoal is a nice controllable fuel that stays alight for quite a while when you shut off the blast. Coke just looks for an excuse to go out. Coke fumes are more hostile too.

good build there also watched your grinder builds as well also nice builds however theres no way im connecting the 9" grinder to your table

Bo8, I think gas bottles were designed as a " Welding consumable"

its not a gas bottle its an old compressor tank

Lots of knife makers love it. Works well from a back blast forge (totally pants from bottom draft). Think I would be making my own like, full day forging could crusify costs

Liking the consept a lot not as sure about the blower box being so close and some scrap Ali would be by choice personally. Do you think the battery at risk? I would not like to be around if it let go (perhaps a power lead plugging into the back of the box, rather than the battery sat in the box?). Very. Very well done video and I am very envious of your skills with the film and editing

it is fine it doesn't get hot at all

Didn't know that, few folks have posted knifes they've made and I don't recall any issues. Only asked as I'm interested in knife making also

Should not be any issues with knives as far as I am aware. I have never posted any but they are just another tool
