Portamig 235 torch length

Have a portamig 235 with a standard parweld torch which came with welder and was thinking of getting a longer torch will the 235 wire feed set up be able to push the wire through a 4 meter or even a 8 meter torch.

4 mtr no problem, At 8mtrs you are being ambitious,

5m is the longest that's realistic on a MIG set to give good performance without having to use a push/pull setup or a booster feeder setup.

We run a 5m torch on all of our MIG sets, the smallest being a Lincoln 220 compact.

When I ordered my 215 from Weldequip I asked about the 4m torch and he did not recommend using one with 0.6mm wire. Having said that the Parweld at work has a 4m torch and 0.6mm wire, the limited use I have given it so far there have been no issues and I like the torch which I think is a Starparts Titanium that feels more flexible than my Parweld torch. The works welder does however have a 4 roll wire feed with a humongous motor.

I have the tec-arc 211 with 4m torch and it runs .6mm no problem.

i run a 5mtr off a old 180 amp mig no bother,, it sometimes get a bit jittery if i get in a funky position

Use a 4m on my 185 porta without issues, strangely supplied as new with the machine by Steve without issue.

0.8mm wire is soooo much more stiffer than 0.6mm wire.

Don't start confusing issues comparing torch lengths using the Devil's work which is 0.6mm wire.

IMHO.

No issue running 0.6 through either the machine or both torches on my porta, my issue was a tight spool holding spindle bolt.

4m nice and smooth on my 275 with 0.8

My 270 oxford has a 4 meter torch no issues, but I dont own any .6 wire, never felt the need. In days go e by with my old machine, never an issue with .8, but .6 was about as much use as a chocholate fire guard.
