Possible to make a brazing hearth?

Hi,

I want to do some brazing. Light gauge bike tube size joints.

To navigate around getting an oxy acetaline account the flamefast route looks brilliant if purchased second hand.

I can get a flamefast torch but would need a compressor and the basic research i've just done suggests I would need a HVLP compressor supplying 5psi. However i'm not sure about this.

Anyone got any advice or links to a DIY brazing hearth/.

I had a flamefast hearth until I sold it recently. The built in compressor was just a bit like a fan in a housing and wasn't that powerfull. You could probably convert an old vacuum cleaner to supply the air or instead buy one of those workshop vacs that has a blow function. I think Earlex do one that has this.

Second the old vac blower. I got a freebe, turned out the switch was duff, so I put the motor assembly in a plywood box and piped the air to my DIY forge. Actually way too powerful, so I vent lots to waste, the forge happily melts iron.
