Bit of an odd one here – just trying to understand what’s happened so I can learn from my mistakes.
I sprayed a panel grey and started to colour sand it to remove the peel. Thing is the panel has dried darker then what it should be an as I colour sand It reveals the correct colour.
I have painted a boot lid in the same gray and didn’t have the same issues when colour sanding.
I have noticed that on the final top coat the thin mix of paint versus thinners causes the mix to separate if left for a few minutes. Could this be why I have a slightly darker shade on this panel?
On recollection I mixed up the final gloss coat straight after doing the last colour coat and then stepped away for 10 mins came back and then sprayed, gave the gun a bit of a shake to mix up the contents and went for it.
Could it be that in those 10 mins the paint started to separate out, and the shake I gave the gun didn’t really mix the contents up very well – hence the slightly darker shade which sands off to reveal the proper colour?
Cheers
