Good bit of kit if it still works? You will have to establish it it cut on back or forward stroke, which is easy to suss when operational, obviously blade required and, white water for cooling & lubrication when cutting........
Ps, will be a device for controlling drop speed, sometimes the hydraulic seals maybe knacked, this can prevent machine jacking back up when cut is complete.....

The motor is three phase so i will have to get it rewound to suit and need a starter switch. also i will need a new pipe for the hydraulic system or does it have a motor too? Would i really need a cooling system as most of the hacksaws i ever seen did not have a cooling system?
Maybe an idea if you have access to 3 phase to try it out before rewinding? I'm honestly not sure how hydraulic system works, I'm assuming here, I would reckon Hy/pump will work via main power motor?
As for cooling, empty wash liquid bottle with some kind of cooling will be suffice for DIY needs...........

The motor is a 1.5 kw (2hp) motor but think a mate has a 1hp single phase motor that is flange mount would have enough power? Everything seems to run freely enough. If i was to bypass the hydralic system and put in an adjustable damper to slow the fall or loop the feed and return of the existing cylinder via a control valve would that suffice?

On our old saw at work we just let the wieght of the arm do the work, no hydraulics and just muscle power to lift it up.If i was to bypass the hydralic system and put in an adjustable damper to slow the fall or loop the feed and return of the existing cylinder via a control valve would that suffice?
Just on the off chance, anybody got a single phase motor about 2hp lying about that they dont need

take a picture of the data plate you might be able to run through inverter that will give speed control also DC break facility

You will probably find you need coolant. All my kit has come minus the coolant pumps[somewhere there must be thousands of coolant pumps]. I ran my
saw without coolant, got thru blades and the metal coming off was
really hot. For a while my coolant system was a gallon can hanging
above the saw.

My dad worked with a man who used a power saw in his apprentiship, apparently, and the man who worked the saw just kept a tin can and sloshed a lot of coolant round the blade now and again! Agricultural or what! Maybe a windscreen washer motor would do the same job if i have to change this to single phase (cost of rewinding/sourcing new motors)

You will kill windscreen washer pumps. I use a holley fuel pump, I keep meaning
to sort something better out.
I am suprised it's 2hp, my Rapiodor has a tiny little motor, I think it's a third of a horse[it's happily pushes a 4tpi blade thru 6 inch EN24].
If you want to try it you just need another 3ph motor, run off single phase it will generate a third phase.

So I took some photos last night but the plate was too shiny and kept reflecting back the flash so no good.
The motor is defo a three phase motor, it has 3~ symbol on it and says 50hertz as well.
Would it be possible to see if the motor is functional, from a single phase supply, before i begin to look at converting it as shenion says. I do not know of anyone near hand that has three phase supply to plug it in and try.

does it give a voltage e.g. 220V-400V. If it has 230V (ish) then will run on normal inverter that is basicaly an electrical switch changing between 123 very fast. If it only says 400V (ish) then you need an inverter that ups the voltage as well as the cleaver switching
