wonder if any one can help please? I have a powercraft compressor, the rubber diaphragm/ seal under the pressure switch has failed. any idea where I could get hold of 1? thanks George
Is that one of the old Omega Wolf ones sold by Aldi and B&Q for a while? If so, you may be out of luck as they folded a couple of years ago. They did have a reasonable parts service until they did though.
I have one too - and it's been a good machine for what I need it for. I had to get a new fitting for where the pipe from the compressor goes into the tank after I dropped a hammer on it and cracked it. Omega Wolf were very good at sending me a replacement (which was better cast than the original).
I would be tempted to just replace the whole pressure switch, as then you know it'll work properly. If you were to make a replacement, it might not behave the same as the original and cause issues. They're not that expensive.
I have one of these compressors too, the pressure switch is a standard part available on ebay for less than £10 (I had to replace one on my old compressor).
I've used my compressor twice but the cut out doesn't seem to work - at what pressure should it cut out? When the needles been getting cloe to the red I've turned it off manually each time - not ideal!
Cut out pressure is adjustable, I don't recall the standard pressure on that compressor but it's probably 7-8 bar, the replacement pressure switch is likely to be 10 bar, which would be fine but it makes the compressor work harder. To reduce it, unplug the compressor, remove the switch cover and look for a screw or bolt head with a + to - marking on it, it should be somewhere on the top. Turn it half a turn towards - and see what the cut out pressure is then, after testing with the cover replaced etc. Adjust accordingly if the pressure needs to increase or decrease.
I seem to think mine cuts out about 2mm before the red line, if that helps? Though I spilt some petrol on the gauge and it's made the clear plastic go cloudy so I can't really read the numbers very well any more!
