Had it for a few years and its actually not even done much work!
But recently it started cutting out and now wont fire at all, pull the trigger and you can hear relays and the air solenoid click, but no compressor starting.
i did all the tests in this manual and have narrowed it down to the compressor power supply board, (it converts 370vdc to 15vdc)
I have 375-380v dc into the board, and the 3v dc signal when you pull the torch trigger, but no 15v out!
The compressor itself works fine when powered with an external power supply,
I even managed to get the pilot arc to fire as normal, but supplying the compressor externally,
So im 99% sure its the compressor power supply board at fault... but i have removed it for a closer look, and was hoping to find big black marks on some obviously exploded component! but its all clean and i cant see anything untoward looking. i was amazed at how clean the insides of the machine are in general!
bloody annoying having to spend so much to replace the board when its possibly only one component gone;
anyone ever sent individual boards away for repair before?
Im in Orkney so sending the whole machine away can get costly!
I have emailed "cityplasma.co.uk" as they seem to offer repair and are also a hypertherm dealer
also wondered if someone like these guys would be worth a shout;
I was looking at their reviews and they have repaired other less common stuff like car ecu's and things, seem to be able to fix most things!
I bought an expensive hypertherm because i was sick of cheap chinese stuff blowing up for no reason!!
any recommendations welcome!
