Hello everyone,

As some of you may of seen my other thread regarding my single phase situation I just wanted to ask your opinion on extraction fans..

I’ve been intouch with airflow and a few other professional spraybooth suppliers about purchasing a single phase belt driven fan. There are many options and I’ve worked out my cfm needed.. however I feel with the compressors sinking so much power I may struggle..

So I have found these ATEX rated fans on eBay supplied by POWERSTAR. They have a few YouTube videos by retrorestore about homemade booths.

I think the fans are the same as the Olympus ones just rebranded.

My question is.. are they any good? And are they actually safe? I’ve tried contacting the company but there voicemail is full and I’ve had no response which is never a good sign.

I’m guessing they are aimed more at th diyer/small scale.

I was just wondering if any of you had tried them out..

And RDM engineering were the other company providing proper 610mm belt driven jobbies.. 1.10-1.5 kw.. so I’m not sure if they are too thirsty..

I have seen that style also.. it’s basically a standard sized booth so I imagine I may need a few of those.. how did it respond? I’ve had an axial fan before that sucked like crazy but then I realised it wasn’t explosion proof.. thanks for your reply

They are far more efficient than belt driven fans.
The fan in your 1st link at 18"
18"/ 450mm 220-240V 50Hz 1400 750w 110 (m3/min)

The fan in my link at 18"
20''(500mm) 220-240(V) 50Hz 1400(rpm) 370(w) 6000(m3/hr)

The portable fans always seem to be very inefficient.
I ran a 16" with 2.5m x 2m of filter media, this was kept clear most of the time.
All depends on you set up.

Ive just spied this one on the bay.. looks good.. works out around 22”.. I was always under the impression that axial fans weren’t as strong.. thakyou for bringing that to my attention I was quite shocked !
