Prepping Galv metal for painting

I have got a replacement corner capping for the Landy which is Galv'd. What preperation do I need to do before spraying the top coat from a spray can?

I was thinking, Degrease, prime and paint? But with it being Galv do I need an additional step ?

Get a galv compatible primer. B&Q do one and most etch primers should be OK, check with your paint supplier to make sure.

proper finish is to leave as galv especially on earlier stuff

This is a 1999 110... So would'nt look right with one capping done in Galv against a Caladonian blue body. Maybe Stornoway Grey maybe.
