Anyone around chesterfield area that has use of a press brake. I need 2x90 degree bends putting in 2 pieces of 2.5mm plate to make a fuel tank for my race car. Beer tokens avaliable obviously. Thanks
No its just going in an oval shale car so wanted over engineered really also only got mig so might struggle welding it if i go to thin and disctortion maybe an issue? Thanks
Press brake is nice, but if not found, just run a thin disc down the bend line to half depth and bend what is left. Then MIG up the opened out wedge. Probably quicker than wandering around looking for a press. I did a 30cm fold in 2mm SS sheet this way, all 130° of it.
The fact that you are only bending around 1mm at the 'joint' will make it easier with the thicker sheet than trying on ordinary 1mm, as the extra thickness away from the bend line will stabilise it.
Interesting photos.. Mate used to race a Turbo Volvo mid engined VW based on tracks like that. Autocross back then and he did well.
