Hello,
I had covered yesterday afternoon a new metal cabinet for my tools.
The steel used is new without any rust and before painting was cleaned and degreased with solvent.
For painting I said I use ZINCOSIL for better protect against rust and especially as it is based on zinc.
This Zincosil has a silver-shiny, but I have never used zinc spray before.
The problem is: I went today (after ~24 hours) to see if it's dry, but surprise - I got in touch with "glitter" or tiny silver dots on the fingers (it disappear if wash with soap and water) and don't know what is the cause for that. In theory must have been already dry (outside was more than 20 degrees celsius).
Someone told me that those are actually glitter in zinc content.
I do not know what to think, is still fresh paint zinc or film?
Annoying is the fact their are to imagine that anything I put in the closet will make silver.
Here are some product specifications:
Cold Zinc spray suitable for retouches on welded or previously galvanized parts (railings, galvanized structures, parts of bodywork, iron parts exposed to atmospheric agents).
- Elevated covering power, it forms a film of about 30 microns with one spray
- Good resistance to oxidation. (it resists for a lot of time to salty fog test)
- It forms an elastic film that sticks on any surface protecting it from oxidation
- It has a clear tonality very similar to heat galvanization
- It dries quickly (3 minutes in surface) and it does not drip
- It can be overpainted or left as a final protection
- High resistance to abrasion
I'm asking those who have used Zincosil before to give me an opinion / advice and what should I do?
Thank you.
