problems with spraying/finishing coat

hi all, im new to the site. I have been doing a camper van project since April and im on the verge of completing the project. I have never sprayed before in my life and i thought i would give it a go, so i did yesterday. I have been down today to have a see how it looks now its painted and looking at it on an angle i can see lots and lots of dry patches as if iv missed them with the gun :S how do i get rid of these? i was told for the final coat it had to be wet which i tried to do but was having problems adjusting the fan on the gun so it was spraying out very thin. i have sprayed the van in a diamond white, can i use a laquer to get the shine on the van and will this get rid of the dry patches? as i said i am totally new to this field so any help at all would be appreciated as i am hoping to go and have another go tomorrow

You can flatten it down with 2000 wet or dry and then compounding paste to get rid of the paper marks, I wouldn't put lacquer on the paint if it was a solid colour you used, in case you leave holidays in that as well and dig yourself into a deeper hole.

mop it off, with a polishing mop if you have one that generally cures dry spots.
On gates and railings (the same applies to car painting) we tend to paint with very little thinners in the mix, then flash a final coat over which has a much higher thinner content. This normally gives a nice shine and no dry spots I wouldnt put lacquer on it as it tends to lift over time.

what paint are you using,celly,acrylic.?
what gun,air pressure?

if you cant spray the paint on wet then laquer will go on just the same and complicate things

sounds like you need to go wetter /slower with the gun , and or slower thinners

maybe a bigger set up in the gun too

if you have used cellulose then its quite common it also blooms, you will just need to polish it up with something like faracla g3 or equivalent, machine would be better if you have one they are like big angle grinders but dont spin fast and have a foam head on them. dont use anything fast it will just burn the paint and also stay away from any edges as you will go through very quickly

snooper the bloke has never sprayed before. so how can he be expected to control a polisher???
if he go the route of polishing he would be to do it by hand.

Practise on the back of the garage door or some cardboard sheet, it sounds like you are not keeping your spraygun a constant distance from the work and not covering the wet edge of the last stroke as well as paint mix issues. Flat it down with some 1000 wet and dry and keep trying, at least it will have lots of coats to go at.
