I have been struggling for years propping up long pieces of material when drilling in the pedestal drill - not too bad if the wife is around but often it has been setting up the steps and adjusting the angle so one of the steps is the right height or stacking up multiple blocks of wood.
I thought about something floor standing but that would have meant quite a wide base to avoid it falling over. I guess I could have made a folding base, but I decided to make something which would fit in my 'workmate' style bench.
I'm quite pleased with the way it has come out. The roller spins on bearings and can go in a high position for board or a low position for box and the like, so the material doesn’slide off the edge. I guess I'll paint it next.
