Hello Lexi,
I seem to remember that you need an oxidising flame to braze brass, actually it is welding, strictly speaking as the parent metal melts. I rarely weld brass but often join either copper to brass or stainless to brass and don't have any real problems with the brass.

I would go with all the answers, silver solder, easy flo number 2, cheap and lo temp. It,s always a bit iffy trying to braze brass when the spelter and the parent melt at the same temperature. If you are using 'brazing flux' the work piece won't get hot enough for the flux to work. EF No 2 and lo temp flux will be stronger than the parent metal.

Well it was solid brass rod 30mm dia. I,ve just thrown it out of garage window then realised I was actually in the house............sorry dear!
Will try the silver solder . I have a few grades here. I have a Tig and some sheet so will try that. No Flux? What gas? I have Argoshield and Pureshield.

Another vote for silver solder here. Bit of a clean, dab of Siflux and away you go. 
Don't forget it is a solder though, so you need a small gap for the silver to flow into ie if soldering a pin into a hole, the pin should not be a very tight fit.
