Pump problems

Hi, I have a problem with my compressor pump, it's a 3hp motor, belt drive and 200ltr tank. Made by Nielsen. It is taking approx 15 mins to build up full pressure, but it has started forcing oil out of the filler plug. I took the filler plug out and put my thumb over and I could feel the pressure build up pretty much straight away. Is this pointing to rings? The reason I ask is I have had the compressor 12 months in November and had no end of problems. It has had a new pressure switch, capacitor in the motor and a pump as it refused to pump past 60psi. The new pump has probably been on for about 4 months. Is it cheap pumps? The oil gets drained and changed regular, for compressor oil. All previous parts were under warranty but all this down time is costing me money at work.

either put a new pump on it if its worth it or buy a better make one nielsen isnt the best of gear

It's still under warranty so going to give the place a ring tomorrow. Is it acceptable to request a better pump or does it have to be replaced like for like

Ask politely what they are going to do regarding the poor reliability.
You could suggest extend warranty for another 12 months, not the best solution as it appears to be s***t, but better than nothing.
Return your money as the unit is not of merchantable quality & you don't want further Costly break downs.
Maybe suggest you will send bill for down time & if not met will go to County court to recover loss.
Had this discussion recently with a Co they paid part of down time + further warranty on replacement unit, result
Don't waste time speaking to people who cant make decisions, also ask for any agreement in writing Email

Certainly sounds as thought it is not very clever but playing the devil's advocate could it be a case that you have under specified for the job in hand?
If that should be the case try to get them refund your money and then get something more up to the job. If they insist in repairing it I'd off load it asap while it's still working and then go for something better.

Personally I would try and find an old broom wade or ingersol rand pump, second hand and fit that, the old ones just go on for years, dont look as flashy but are made to run 24/ 7.
