punch and die set

since I've replaced my old pc with a new lap top.
I now have to start all over again to find old webb pages etc.
some one on here gave me a link to a punch/die seller but I cannot remeber the name.
I've even bought from them but old grey doesn't seem to remember other than geko?

what steel are punches and dies normally made from lmb ? silver steel good enough ?

Silver steel is good enough for punches when hardened and tempered correctly. 01 06 and D2 tool steel is more suited to punches and dies. 06 is the easiest to machine. Been making a new rad tool for our no.1 flypress. Cracked the diaform feature on one of out surface grinders

I have used d2 to make them as there was nothing else available and they worked well, lost them now though, as is the way when you accidentally leave your toolbox open overnight and somehow your spanners and half your own made tools go missing...
